NEW YORK - The grandmother of the singer Madonna, Mae ElsieFortin, died at the age of 99 years.
Grandma singer of The Power of Good-Bye died in Bay City,Michigan, yesterday local time. Death of Elsie just three monthsbefore he was even a century old.
Elsie is a person who looks after Madonna since childhood after Madonna's mother died of breast cancer in 1963. Madonna is veryclose to his grandmother, and often stayed with him for weeks inthe summer.
Madonna's father, Silvio Ciccone, told the Bay City Times newspaper that Elsie was a very friendly, loving and caring.
"He has a big family and take care of almost all family members.He does a great job on her own," said Silvio, as quoted Showbizspy, Friday (11/03/2011) .
Silvio said, last saw her was two weeks ago. At the time, Silvio had a long chat.
Meanwhile, Madonna did not issue any comment on the death ofhis beloved grandmother. "I'm sorry, but Madonna will not issue any statement related to his grandmother. This is a very personal thingfor him," said Madonna's spokeswoman, Liz Rosenberg.
The late Elsie will be buried on Saturday, March 12, in Bay City.
