Hillary Clinton when arrived in Japan |
TOKYO - Foreign Minister of the United States (U.S.) Hillary Clinton arrived in Japan today. His visit this time is to provide support and solidarity following the earthquake and tsunami disaster in Japan.
Clinton will hold talks with Prime Minister Naoto Kan and Secretary of State Takeaki Matsumoto during that brief visit. It is quoted by the AFP on Sunday (17/04/2011).
Since the disaster in Japan, U.S. troops conducted the search, rescue and disaster recovery by lowering the 20 thousand soldiers. In addition, the U.S. government also put ships and planes after an earthquake measuring 9.0 on the Richter scale.
Senior U.S. diplomat who joined the trip to accompany Clinton, said Clinton's visit aims to provide support to Japanese and U.S. showed a global role.
"We all realize Japan is in a critical stage and we want to encourage those who seek to rebuilding and trying to recover back to keep an international focus and that this crisis does not make the Japanese people unhappy," said the diplomat.
