JAKARTA - The 10 leaders of ASEAN countries will meet in Jakarta today and tomorrow. They gathered in the ASEAN summit meeting held in Jakarta Convention Center.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) will open the meeting at 10.00 pm. Unless Prime Minister Lee Hsien Long, all ASEAN heads of state will attend the meeting which will last for 7-8 May 2011.
There is some discussion that is expected to be discussed by the leaders of ASEAN countries. The previous discussion already dibincangkan by foreign ministers of ASEAN.
Issues to be discussed among other things, cooperation in counter-terrorism, human trafficking, conflict resolution. Also talked about developments in Myanmar, Cambodia and Thailand conflict issues, as well as the establishment of the ASEAN Institute for Peace and Reconsiliation.
East Timor's membership problem is also discussed in this meeting. According to ASEAN membership application submitted by the Timor Leste submitted to the leaders of ASEAN member countries.
