SAN JOSE - Former President Mario Echandi Jiménez of Costa Rica, who served as head of State from 1958 to 1962, Friday (7/30/2011) died at the age of 96, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
Pando died at his home due to bronchopneumonia, although his health has deteriorated in recent years due to a stroke.
