4 Reactor In Fukushima, Destroyed Soon

TOKYO - The operator of nuclear plants Fukushima Daiichi, Tokyo Electric Power Co (Tepco) will destroy four of six reactors in these plants.

"We had no choice but to destroy the numbers 1,2,3 and 4 reactor at Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant," said Director Tepco Tsunehisa Katsumata quoted as saying by The New York Times, Wednesday (03/30/2011).

Many experts say these measures can not be avoided following the severe damage to the fourth reactor unit that, since the earthquake and tsunami hit last March 11. But at the same time, this decision indicates that investing billions of Tepco can not be repaired at all.

Katsumata add reactor number 5 and 6 are still able to operate. But using nuclear power again is pending consultations between the government and local residents.

Katsumata take leadership from Masataka Shimizu Tepco who underwent treatment at the hospital. Shimizu known being treated for high blood pressure and headaches. Katsumata states Shimizu will soon work after recovery.
