Koussa Requested Responsible For Lockerbie Tragedy

Libyan Foreign Minister Moussa Koussa who defected to Britain
LONDON - Scottish Government said that they wanted to question former Libyan foreign minister Moussa Koussa, who defected, about the incident at Lockerbie plane bombing in 1988.

Koussa who is also former chairman of the spy Moamar Gaddafi, decided to fly to England on Wednesday. He concurred regarding the attack against the people in Libya.

The families of victims of Pan Am aircraft with flight number 103, which killed hundreds of lives in the town of Lockerbie said that there should be no bargaining power to protect Koussa.

The British hoped that Koussa can provide information about military and diplomatic intelligence, while others want to give clues about the plane bombing that killed approximately 259 people on board and 11 other people on the ground.

"He is the head of Libyan intelligence, so if that Libya is responsible for the bombing of Pan Am 103, the Koussa too," said Pamela Dix, whose brother was killed in a plane. "He should not be free in this country." Reuters reports the Friday (01/04/2011).

In 2001, Abdel Basset al-Megrahi, a former Libyan agent, sentenced to life imprisonment for his involvement on the plane bombing, but eventually freed by the Scots in 2009 because he had prostate cancer.

Koussa also has an important role to release Megrahi who is still alive.

British Foreign Secretary William Hague, said that Koussa not be granted diplomatic immunity against prosecution. Prime Minister David Cameron also said that the police can freely to look for evidence of his involvement.
