Plutonium Toxic Leaks from the Fukushima nuclear power plant

TOKYO - Plutonium is highly toxic level was found leaking from a nuclear power plant Fukushima Daiichi. Toxic material was found seeping into the land surrounding the power plant.

"For the first time small amounts of plutonium found in several locations outside the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant," said Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant operator, Tokyo Electric Power Co. as quoted by the Associated Press, Tuesday (03/29/2011).

Safety officer stated, the amount of plutonium that is leaking does not cause a high risk for humans. It is estimated that radiated water also leaked from nuclear reactor core of the Fukushima Daiichi.

"The situation now is very dangerous. We're working as hard as possible to overcome the damage," said Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano.

An earthquake measuring 9 ricther scale (SR), which rocked the March 11 had damaged Fukushima nuclear power plant. Not only the earthquake, the tsunami that followed the disaster are also making the cooling system of the Fukushima nuclear power plant severely damaged.
