Tepco Will Dispose of Contaminated Water into the Sea

TOKYO - Tokyo Electric Power Company (Tepco) plans to dispose of radioactive waste water into the sea of Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in an effort to stabilize reactor.
Tepco said it would start throwing as much as 11,500 tons of waste water on Tuesday, March 5th fastest and the operation will last for several days.
 
Tepco explain the level of iodine-131 in waste water are in levels100 times the legal limit. However, nuclear power plant operator said if people eat fish or seaweed from the waters near nuclear power plants for a year, then that will be exposed to radiation is 0.6 millisievert. Tepco add a level of radiation allowed in one year to the general public is one millisievert.

Edano called the operation as an emergency measure to ensure the safety of nuclear power plants. Edano also added that the government has asked Tepco to monitor radioactivity in sea waterand thoroughly explore its impact on the environment.
