Death toll from the earthquake in Japan, reaching 7700

Japan's post-earthquake condition
TOKYO - Japan's National Police said the 7700 people listed as dead. While more than 11,651 other people were reportedunknown.

One week after the devastating earthquake that hit Japan lastMarch 11, the death toll continues to grow. It is feared that the conditions in some areas are still devastated, it is possible that the victim was found more.

It is estimated that most of the missing victims are outside the quake zone when the tsunami struck. Plus the power of the tsunami, like many victims of the tsunami waves are drawn backinto the wide expanse of water.

As reported by the Associated Press, Sunday (20/03/2011), this condition is similar to the 2004 tsunami in Aceh, where mostvictims missing body was not discovered until recently.

Meanwhile, aftershocks continue to hit Japan despite fierceearthquake measuring 9 on the Richter scale (SR) hit more than a week ago.

SR A 6.1 magnitude aftershock occurred on Saturday, March 19pm local time in Ibaraki, to the depth of the earthquake reached 20km.
