Friday, Yemeni Opposition Calls for Protest Action

SANAA - Yemeni opposition groups asked the protesters marched in front of the Palace of Sanaa President Ali Abdullah Saleh on Friday, March 25. They asked Saleh back and hoping the feared crisis Saleh allies abroad will benefit the Islamic fighters ended.

"Friday will be Friday the Future Movement, with hundreds of thousands of people joined in the movement. We will go to a place where Saleh was and we will get rid of you, "said opposition spokesman Mohammed Qahtan on Al Jazeera television station, as quoted by Reuters on Wednesday (03/23/2011).

Complain of marginalization, southerners want to secede from Yemen, led by Saleh. Meanwhile, the Shia group in the north has launched several uprisings against the eternal leader. Currently Saleh faces the biggest fight in his political life.

Saleh threaten the existence of civil war and devastation if he was forced to resign in the action he describes as a coup.

A wave of defections that occurred among the government elite has now reached senior military commanders, including Gen. Ali Mohsen, commander of the military zone northwest of the clan and kin Saleh al-Ahmar.

"Those who want to increase power through a coup should know that this is not possible. This country will not be stable, there will be civil war, bloody war. They should consider this carefully, "said Saleh on the military commanders on Tuesday, March 22.

Tensions between rival military forces has led to acts of violence.

The presidential guard, the troops commanded by Saleh's son, Ahmed, surround air force battalion in the coastal city Hudaida, after the air force commander said the support of the demonstrators.

A presidential guard and a soldier were killed in clashes on the southern coast Monday, March 21 evening.
