TOKYO - The World Health Organization (WHO) said the level ofradiation to food due to leakage of the reactor at Japanese nuclearpower plant, was more serious than previously thought.

"Obviously this is a very serious condition," said WHO spokesman Peter Cordingley in Manila, the Philippines, told Reuters onMonday (3/21/2011).

"This is far more serious than expected by many parties. We think that this problem can be overcome by limiting safe area 20 to 30 kilometers,"said Cordingley.

"Should safe area, but it seems some of these contaminated products from the region made it out safely," he said.

However, Cordingley added, there is no evidence that foods exposed to radiation from the Fukushima nuclear power plant was successfully brought out of Japan.

Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant conditions continued todecline after it was hit by an earthquake measuring 9 on the Richter scale (SR) and the tsunami. Recently workers at the No. 3 nuclear power plant reactor was evacuated after smoke gray looked out of the reactors.
